Special Olympics of Michigan
One of the biggest influences on my life has been my older brother, Mick. Mick was four years older than I and born intellectually disabled. I did not realize until my late 20s what an incredible, positive influence he had been on my life. I can summarize best in these three words; empathy, compassion, and acceptance. He faced challenges every day of his life and always just rolled with it.
Mick passed away in 2011. I continue to support Mick’s legacy through my support of Special Olympics of Michigan. Mick was an amazing athlete and loved Special Olympics.

I have been fortunate to be affiliated with Racing Awareness since its inception in 2010. The founder’s vision was to establish an auto racing team to raise funds for children with illness or injury which I thought was a truly unique idea. It was challenging and deeply rewarding to develop the structure for this charitable endeavor, and I am extremely proud to be an officer of this organization. Racing Awareness has done so much to enhance the lives of children and their families through visits to the race track, meet-and-greets with drivers, and the opportunity to divert their attention from the health care process. In the short time since the charity was established, we have contributed more than $100,000 in support of children struggling with severe illness.
